A real treasure of a writer
Jamie McAllister has become one of my go-to freelance writers I can depend on for a wide variety of story topics, both for Coastal Virginia Magazine and CoVa BIZ. Whether it’s been a profile on a trained accordion player or interviewing some of the top doctors and lawyers in our region, a variety of business profiles, or articles containing helpful takeaway tips for the reader, Jamie masters each topic with confidence and clarity, proving herself a real “Jill” of all trades. When it comes to knowing our readership and understanding the types of stories that will make an impact for our publications, she simply “gets it.” Jamie’s collection of creative and unique story ideas seem endless. In addition to assigning her stories from her own pitches, I frequently contact Jamie to take on other assignments, knowing that she will come up with an intriguing angle, expand the idea and produce a well-organized, well-written, enjoyable-to-read article each time (and always meeting her deadline requirements). Jamie is an absolute joy to work with and a real treasure of a writer.
passionate and professional
I have had the pleasure of seeing many sides of Jamie. She is passionate about what she does, which came through during a recent interview for her March of Dimes ongoing blog. Jamie’s professionalism and skills come shining through as you read her blogs. Her ability to ask questions, listening attentively and put it all back into clear and concise writings for your reading pleasure is uncanny. I highly recommend Jamie if you are looking for writing, editing and certainly blogging.
We hired Jamie for a recent project and would highly recommend her talent. She took direction very well, responded quickly and her work exceeded expectations. Her freelance writing would be a valuable asset to any company or organization.
extreme focus to detail
Jamie has become a great supporter of the Hampton Roads American Marketing Association. I met her at one of our functions early this year and she very quickly became a huge part of our group. She has helped to make all of our communications much more consistent, polished with a professional touch. She has an extreme focus to detail and is always very energetic to get it done quickly and accurately. I would recommend Jamie to anyone that is looking to step up their game with writing and communications.
sensitivity, intuition, and creativity
Jamie McAllister is a gift to Beyond Boobs! She approached us about donating her writing skills to us, and we immediately jumped on the offer. Great writers are really hard to come by but one with Jamie’s sensitivity, intuition, and creativity are especially rare.
Jamie has been writing blog posts for us since the summer. We asked her to begin with a series featuring breast cancer survivors appearing in A Calendar to Live By 2015. She exceeded all expectations, and we decided we wanted to keep her around. Fortunately for us, she wanted to stick around! She developed the concept for the next series which is the breast cancer experience from the perspective of individuals who love and care for our survivors.
Jamie takes a true interest in learning about the people she meets and writing their stories in a compelling way that allows readers to connect with the subjects. She is prompt, responsive, conscientious, and generous with her time and talent. I recommend her without reservation for anyone needing a gifted, professional writer.
Jamie has a number of other interesting series proposed, and we can’t wait to read what she has to write!

a natural interviewer
Jamie and I met while volunteering our services to non-profit breast health organization Beyond Boobs! What impresses me most about Jamie is her voracious appetite for learning, a quality that certainly works to her advantage. Whatever the subject matter, she strives to understand it from multiple angles. Her inquisitive nature and easy style make her a natural interviewer. Jamie has a knack for crashing through the surface to get to the heart of the story, a talent reflected in her captivating, cleverly written articles.
