I grew up in Michigan, which means I saw a zillion snowflakes and no Waffle Houses. I earned a bachelor’s degree from Western Michigan University with a major in Spanish and a minor in criminal justice. After graduation I spent time in the corporate world before moving to Virginia Beach in 2009. Now, as a Virginia transplant, I see a lot less snow and a lot more Waffle Houses.
I started my company, McAllister Writing & Editing, in 2014. I provide copywriting services for marketing and design agencies, businesses, and nonprofits. I have also written for several publications in Southeastern Virginia, including Coastal Virginia Magazine, Coastal Virginia Business Magazine, Tidewater Women, and The Health Journal.
In addition to writing services, I offer content marketing consulting and training. If you need help getting your company’s content marketing plan off the ground, I can offer advice on editorial calendars, writing style and tone, and how to maintain a consistent brand image. I also offer training for companies and business owners who are ready to use the power of content to take their marketing efforts to the next level. More info about all of my company’s offerings can be found on my Services page.
When I’m not writing, I enjoy spending time outdoors exploring all of the beautiful scenery that a seaside city has to offer. I am also a lifelong reader, with mysteries topping my list of favorite genres. My techie husband and I share our home in Virginia Beach with our two rescue cats.
Want more? Here are some additional fun facts:
- I won the high school spelling bee during my senior year. (Shocking, right?)
- No matter how hard I try, I can’t whistle.
- I enjoy card games and board games, and I play to win.
- I detest sweet pickles. Dill all the way!
